For you married gals, did it feel surreal when you *officially* began wedding planning?
This mom/work/blog juggle, as wonderful as it is, has been a lot recently if I am being 100% honest. So when Ridge and I started talking about wedding planning, as excited as I was it was a little scary to take on one. more. thing.
Though when I force myself to slow down and think about it, the fact we’re planning this feels like a crazy dream. We’ve been through some crazy days since we met and it’s only thanks to God’s love Ridge and I have made it to where we are today and at the point of formally committing the rest of our lives to each other.
Yeah, pretty crazy.
Ok on to the update! When we started planning, the first thing we did was enlist Toia from Beyond The Veil to help navigate the craziness. It was the best decision we could have made! Before connecting with her, we knew the venue we wanted but she helped us figure out how to make it happen within our budget. Last Friday we had a chance to tour The Ballantyne and holy cow…photos don’t do it justice! I told Toia I felt like a spoiled brat…ha!
We picked the outside area for the ceremony and we’re going to have the reception in one of the ballrooms. If it weren’t for Toia I’d be so overwhelmed with the decisions that need to be made in the next few weeks and months, but thanks to her I feel pretty calm about it all. I started a mood board on Pinterest for the look and feel of the day here, if that helps to give a general idea of an overall “look and feel” we are going for.
Anyway, long story short we have the venue (yay!) and are close to finalizing the date (the ballroom we originally wanted is under construction in August so we’re deciding between pushing it to September or going with the second ballroom upstairs). I can’t wait to start planning the “fun stuff” and share as we go.
For those of you that have been through the wedding planning process, what is one thing that you are so glad you did or one thing you really wish you had done differently?
