Lately I’ve gravitated to basic tees and versatile jackets that can be styled many different ways. One thing I adore about Fall is layering kicks in as the weather cools down. Layering is great because it lets you take basic pieces and turn them into a really cute ensemble! (A great analogy is cooking; if you keep basic ingredients in your house it’s much easier to conjure up a last minute dinner without running to the store). I wore a lot of light blouses this Summer to beat the heat, but the thrill of Fall is it’s all about basics.
And that brings me to this outfit. 🙂
I found this shirt over the weekend and instantly fell in love. Madewell tees are my favorite (so soft and high quality!) and I’m obsessed with this particular one because of the stripes. Burnt orange is my absolute favorite Fall color! For whatever reason, burnt orange and stripes look amazing with a green utility jacket…I don’t know what it is about this combination!
Once I had the top and jacket I added raw hem jeans (I love how the distressing adds an extra “something” to the look), then softened things up with these ultra-feminine bow mules. I know some people don’t believe in “mixing metals” but I do it shamelessly with my accessories and love the way it looks. 😉
This would make a great Labor Day outfit for shopping, cooking out, traveling, or just taking it easy! I’ve linked all my “Fall Favorites” including the items I’m wearing here at the top in a tab called “Everything I want for Fall“.
How are you feeling about the change of seasons? Do you wish Summer would linger or you head over heels for Fall? The end of Summer is always bittersweet for me but I’m excited for the leaves, cinnamon lattes, scarves…and New York Fashion Week! This is my first time going and I can’t wait. If you’ve been, I’d love to hear any suggestions you have!
Thanks so much for reading and I hope you have a great night!
